Organising your drive...& other useful tips

Folders
- colour coded to easily categorise (right click>change colour)
- share whole folders
- move to
- add star


Save documents you use regularly to your desktop:
- open document
- drag URL onto desktop
- right-click on file name to change e.g. change URL to visual planner

To change the icon:
- find an image (try Icon Search) or use google images
- right click to copy image
- right click on the icon and select 'Get Info'
- click on the current image and paste the new image (paste = command P)

Organising Drive

Today we looked at organising folders in Drive.

To organise find the drop down menu beside the folder you want to edit.
Here you can:

  • Change the colour of the icon
  • Share whole folder with other people
  • Move folder somewhere else (move to)
  • Rename folders
  • Remove (delete folder)

Backing up computer files to Google Drive - Mac Only at this stage
Download Google Drive - you can also access your documents when you are not online.  You can work on these and when you come back online, the document will synch.

To sync files from your mac to google drive - install MacDropAny.
Follow the set-up instructions and sync the files you want to have in your google drive.  This will automatically sync any new files to your google drive.
Make sure you download Google Drive to your desktop before you set-up Mac Drop Any.
Note: You get 30GB of storage space in Google Drive.
